2D Battle royale · Review
Suroi.io
Open-source top-down battle royale with a surprisingly deep loot pool. Rounds are quick, the map is readable, and it runs on anything.
Suroi is an open-source, community-run top-down battle royale — and it's better than that description makes it sound. The map is a mix of open fields, buildings and bunkers; loot is deep, with dozens of guns that genuinely play differently, plus armour, backpacks and scopes that change what you can see.
It rewards patience more than ZombsRoyale. Matches are slower, the circle takes longer to close, and there's real value in looting carefully before picking a fight. Sound matters too: footsteps and gunfire carry, and good players use that.
Being community-run has trade-offs. Updates arrive in bursts, some servers are quieter outside peak hours, and there's no polished onboarding. What you get in exchange is a game with no monetisation pressure, no dark patterns, and a developer team that reads its own feedback threads.
What's good
- Deep, varied loot pool
- No shop, no pressure to spend
- Runs on almost any device
- Open source and actively developed
What's not
- Quieter lobbies off-peak
- Slower pace than similar games
- Minimal tutorial
Best for
Players who like battle royale but want a calmer, more tactical version of it.
